February Julep

I adored this months Julep Maven box! It definitely had the "drama" factor in its contents! I love being pleasantly surprised every month with Julep's amazing products! In February's box I was gifted an additional nailpolish called Love from the Bombshell Collection, which is my new favorite. Love polish is an exclusive Maven Membership only nail polish. It's just the perfect hue of pink and gold glitter which looks amazing on top of a soft pink polish or alone on a single nail. I loved the royal, rich colors in the Classic with a Twist polishes, a glittery fuchsia (Greta) and a true royal purple (Octavia). The extra surprise gift in February's box was the Eye Sheen Liquid Eyeshadow. The color Julep sent me was Dusty Taupe Shimmer. This liquid eyeshadow goes on smooth and perfect. I liked that I could build my eyeshadow color depending on how dramatic I wanted my eyes to look. It could be a soft hue for everyday wear or could look amazing for a night out!

Oh! Right now they are having an amazing SALE on a ton of gorgeous nail colors and more!

Treat & Heal Breakouts & Scars Naturally!

One of my favorite aspects of natural beauty and skincare treatments is that they are so easily attainable & inexpensive; all we have to do is step into our pantries, kitchens or even gardens to find the best ingredients to cocktail some of the most effective beauty treatments out there. I am lucky I can grow and tend to a little Meyer Lemon tree in my garden, and right now in the midst of February it is full of lemons! So I just had to address one of the many ways lemon could be added into skincare regimes, especially if you're like most ladies who get breakouts, congestion and then scarring or hyper-pigmentation caused by those pink and red bumps! This is the treatment for you!

This 3 ingredient treatment can double as a facial exfoliating scrub and/or a mask. Because of timing, I usually scrub the exfoliator over my face 3 nights a week. If I have a bit more time in the evening, I'll allow the mask to sit on my face for 5-8 minutes.

Lemon being the main ingredient is high in antibacterial and anti-fungal qualities! It is chock full of Vitamin C (an antioxidant) so it will naturally lighten dark spots and blemishes and to boot will fight free radicals. And I am not talking about a minor lightening treatment, lemon is extremely effective! Definitely do not underestimate its healing properties. It will eliminate breakouts and blackheads and aid with oil control! Talk about a power punch with lemon! Now, Cinnamon is the next ingredient, it will aid in circulation to the skin, getting all the blood flowing to help eliminate built up toxins. Cinnamon has natural healing properties to eliminate bacteria, thus it will stop acne from developing. Also, as it is a naturally granular texture it will slough away dead skin cells to reveal fresher skin when used as a scrub. I do warn that cinnamon can create a hot or warm sensation on any skin surface it is applied to, this is completely normal! The third and last ingredient is Honey. Again, honey is naturally antibacterial and full of antioxidants. However it is also moisturizing and soothing to irritated or blemished skin. Honey has a way to pull out congested pores to help in this clarifying skin process.

Mix together the juice of half a small to medium sized lemon, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1-2 teaspoons honey. The texture is kinda runny and gooey but smells and tastes delicious! Trust me its actually pretty yummy! Ha! Try to apply this scrub/mask treatment 3x's a week for maximum benefits! Use your fingers to apply onto clean skin and scrub in gentle, circular, upward motions for 1-2 minutes. If using as a mask, stop scrubbing your face and just allow it to set for 5-8 minutes. Rinse completely with cool water. Happy clarifying everyone!

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

A few things today:

1. Downton Abbey Season Finale last night! I always love a good finale but I'm so sad to wait a whole year until the next season! What am I to do? Seriously one of my all time favorite tv shows! Thanks PBS for the great shows, my son gets to watch Sesame Street in the morning and I get to watch Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife (so heartfelt) in the evening! :)

2. Over the weekend, I spent my spare time going through boxes in closets and the garage housing all my old FIDM Interior Design material. They were quite dusty, but it was so much fun uncovering what I had once designed and created years ago. I felt so inspired and happy looking at my old artwork, floor plans and projects that I spent many long nights working on in school. It was like uncovering a "me" I had kinda forgotten about... You can see a few images of sketches I made and are posted to my Instagram. I also dug up the few remaining original Domino magazines that I have left. I've always wanted to frame them, and someday I will!

3. Today we are busy as usual; me and my little sidekick, who literally can't help but kick me sometimes (he's got strong legs!) We are off to Stroller Strides this morning for a fun workout.

4. Today's quote I just love. I stumbled upon it on Pinterest and decided to create my own poster of it using a photo I took of roses that I bought for myself a few weeks back. I truly believe what is MEANT to BE will BE, it just takes time and of course patience. A beautiful and meaningful quote to reflect on as we start another week. Have a great one!

six things

These six things are what I am loving these days! I am working hard on some paintings (coming soon) and interior design projects today, plus lots of errands! Hope you all are having a fantastic day.

Get The Look At Home: Classic Dining Banquette

I've always loved the idea of a dining banquette in a home. In fact I think they are great options for everyday dining at home for any space that could house a banquette, a sturdy table and some great accent side chairs. Such a fun and unique dining room alternative. I came across this beautifully designed dining banquette space and was instantly attracted to such a light filled room with soft griege walls and linear linen roman blinds. I love how the furniture is placed like sculpture, keeping simplicity in their classic clean lines yet added depth and functionality to such a beloved area of the home. See how you can get this look at home below...

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

How was everybody's Valentine Weekend? Wasn't the full moon gorgeous? I had a fantastic weekend visiting good friends I haven't seen in such a long time and my family back home. Feels so good to be home. It gets to be a bit hectic with a little one, trying to come out to visit my life where I truly want to be and call home. I have officially have made it a goal to fit in driving to be here more of a priority.

I recently was listening to Young Love playlist on Spotify in honor of Valentine's. I listened to the first time "On Top Of The World" by Imagine Dragons... I can't get the tune out of my head! The lyrics are so pretty and truly pull at my heart strings these days. The words are strong and have such meaning, although the band sings it in such an upbeat tune. I decided to share the first few lines of this song since I felt that it pretty much sums up how I am feeling.

Hope you all have a great start to a new week!

A Valentine Facial // Chocolate Rose Face Mask

The Valentine theme continues! This is one of my favorite masks to DIY at home! Its an easy 3 ingredient luxury that won't break the bank! All you need is pure cocoa (unsweetened), rose-hip oil or even rose essential oil works too, as well as milk or you can use cream or regular greek yogurt. This mask is great for all skin types, and will intensely moisturize your skin as well as exfoliate like a gentle spa peel. Don't we all need a bit of moisture during these dry winter months? The Chocolate Rose mask also lightens skin and gets rid of skin imperfections such as hyper-pigmentation and sunspots. Here's a bit of information on each ingredient:

Cocoa/ Pure Chocolate: Contains Antioxidants called Flavonols, (FYI anything with antioxidants will do the following:) protect skin from UV Damage, fights free radicals and aids in circulation!

Milk: Is a lactic acid, so it will effortlessly slough away dead skin cells, revealing younger, fresher skin! It naturally will lighten skin imperfections, shrink pore size, and soften and smooth your skin! There's a reason Cleopatra used milk as her beauty weapon!

Rose-hip Oil: Works on a cellular level to rejuvenate all skin types! It truly is a miracle worker. I have always been a fan of using ROSE in my skin care regimen. It's definitely my beauty weapon and I won't live without it. Rose hip oil is also antioxidant rich, full of essential fatty acids and lots of vitamins. Your skin will literally drink this right up! Rose-hip oil works hard by eliminating dark spots, hydrating skin and heals scars and fine lines all at the same time!

Use about 3 teaspoons of Pure Unsweetened Cocoa, about 5-7 sprays or drops of rose-hip oil, and 2 teaspoons of Milk. Combine the 3 ingredients together in a small jar or bowl with a fork. The mixture should have a chocolate mousse consistency. Adjust your measurements until it is mousse-like, but trust me a little of each ingredient will go a long way. Using your fingers, apply the cooling, healing mask all over your face, just be sure to avoid your delicate eye area. Leave it on until it dries, approximately 20 minutes. Rinse and you will be amazed at how your newly revealed skin will be glowing and incredibly soft! Enjoy it girlie, you deserve it!

Me, enjoying my moment of pampering!

DIY Valentine's Day Stationary

Instead of my usual "Monday Musings" and "Quote of the Week" I have a DIY project just in time for Valentine's Day! A few people know this but when I was a teenager I already had the creative entrepreneurial spirit and I used to design and sell my very own stationary. So it was second nature to me I guess that I thought up to create a fun and easy DIY stationary project perfect for Valentine's Day! So roll up your sleeves and get that inner artist out, or better yet, if you have little ones around get them involved! They'll love getting messy and silly with paint. My 13 month old son created the art, I just put the pieces together. I love that each card is unique, original and contains a piece of our love and creativity. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Here was the finished piece of art before I traced and cut it! Beautiful, right? I almost couldn't bring myself to mess with it.

I used a paper heart that I had printed to the size I needed to fit the pre-folded blank white cards I purchased. Just place the heart and keep tracing for as many hearts that you may need. I ended up using the entire paper for hearts!

Glue the hearts onto the pre folded cards. Let them dry and you are done! Now you've got instant Valentine's Day Stationary that is truly a work of art, made with love and each one unique as the next. Happy Valentine's everyone!

On Trend: Touches of Black + White Dots

Design wise I tend to gravitate towards classic palates with an eclectic spin. Of course that usually entails for me a pull towards elegant and timeless Black + White. In my opinion you cannot go wrong. Apparently others agree with me. As you can see this is a current trend that isn't going anywhere fast. Black + White is has been done so tastefully in flecked dots, imperfectly perfect specks of black against the crisp contrast of white.

What a statement bouquet! J'adore! And um, can that bathroom be mine? That wallpaper is divine.

hellooo pattern!

That streamlined wingback chair is perfect, and so are those designer dresses!

Are you loving this black + white dot trend? I'd love to hear how you are utilizing it yourself!

January Julep Maven

I just loved January's Julep Maven box! The theme of January's box was "The Boudoir Collection".  Just to remind you I am a "Classic with a Twist" maven member. My box was filled with a soft and sweet pearly-pink nail polish "Abigail" and a sultry dark inky-blue polish, "Mona". I adore both lovely colors and they are incredibly flattering! The piece de resistance in my opinion was the Ta Da! Quick Dry Drops. First of all it did what it says, dried my nails in record breaking time and to top it off it smells amazing! The scent of ylang ylang makes me feel like I really am getting a mini spa treatment while I am doing my nails at home. It was soothing to my senses and my nails. Thanks Julep for another great maven box! If you haven't tried Julep yet, click on over for more details to get these beauties delivered to your door every month!

Happy first monday of February! This is one of my favorite months of the year. I love everything wrapped up in romantic notions for Valentine's Day. So stay tuned because I have some lovely Valentine's projects I've been working on coming your way!

Last week my son and I joined "Stroller Strides"- I LOVE it! A great way to get a phenomenal workout in even with baby! Plus socialization with other moms is super important- especially when you are a stay at home mom. Its great to have connection with others in the same boat as you!

This week I am extra busy working on interior design projects around my home, I cannot wait to spill the beans to you all.

So I'll leave it at that. Have a great week!
