Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

I realize that its been a week since I last posted in my little blog. Honestly, I know you can all agree that this time of year is quite a busy and hectic one, what with all the festivities, shopping, cooking, cleaning and just life. Sometimes I just want to float away and not worry about the holidays and all the crazy shoppers out there. Christmas is supposed to be about LOVE, and GIVING of LOVE. My ideal way to spend this special holiday is with those I love and just enjoying their company. Although I am quite excited to see my son's little happy face on Christmas morning, ripping open his presents with pure innocence. He'll be more interested in the wrapping paper and ribbon than anything else. To me, that is pure bliss. Christmas is so incredibly magical to little ones.

I've also been busy with a little DIY Christmas present project, that I'll dish on after the presents have been received! I am also contemplating making this easy yet delicious homemade Peppermint Bark. I think I might have a bit of time to squeeze that in! For now I'm off to finish some last minute presents I am making myself. I'd better hurry! Have a lovely Monday and enjoy all the beauty this season has to offer us.

The Problem Solver // May Lindstrom Skin // My Review

I am so excited to share today's review of The Problem Solver by May Lindstrom Skin

This purifying charcoal facial mask is unlike any other mask that I've ever tried. It is wonderfully unique and stands apart from the sea of facial masks available on the market today.

To begin, this mask is all powder. I love knowing that the mask I'm about to apply is the freshest mask I'll ever use because its made-ready by me/you! You mix about a teaspoon of the powder substance, and about a teaspoon of water together. The mixture transforms into a beautiful chocolate colored mousse! Use a facial brush to apply the mask. According to the directions it takes about 45 minutes for the mask to dry completely. For my usage, I have applied thick coats that indeed takes about 45 min to an hour to dry and other days I applied less of the mask and my waiting time was about 15 min max. The mask goes on chocolate mousse dark and dries powdery olive green.  This is what I love about The Problem Solver, its a large jar that full of purifying ingredients that can be customized to meet your needs! Use as much or as little of the product as you want depending on your skin care. You will still benefit from the cocktail of potent and powerful ingredients in this all organic, all natural, cruel-free product! And what's more is it works! I mean really works! My husband jokes when he sees me with this dark mask on my face, he calls it my "War Paint". You know what, he's right. The Problem Solver works hard and tackles skin problems with finesse. My skin has always been conditioned to getting little bumps or congestion in certain areas. I swear its genetic! My skin needs masks almost every other day and lots of exfoliation to stay clear, and it can totally handle it. So I find when I use the mask at least twice a week, my skin looks clear, refreshed and glows! Ahhh I'm ready to get my mask on now! Tell me, have you used The Problem Solver? What did you think of it?

You can see me wearing the Problem Solver here. You can get your very own Problem Solver at Eco Diva Beauty or here

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

Today I wanted to share this beautiful quote by the late Nelson Mandela. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. But I am happy knowing he lead a long life, true to himself. He was a man, a person who crafted an incredible legacy of courage, truth and faith. We will never forget his life and purpose. This quote hits home to me and stirs an awakening. I hope you find the beauty and truth in it as I have. Just love it.

Another note, we just got our tree over the weekend, and I am loving the smell of fresh pine in the house! Its a small tree this year, sitting on top of our dining room hutch to keep our (almost 1 year old) son away from knocking the tree over and injuring himself! I was really inspired the this photo below for the holiday season. My tree is not as grand, but its still oh so lovely.

Anddddd, today our Christmas cards go out! Its been a whirlwind of December, but so much fun! Have a great week everyone!

What I've got my eye on... For Baby's First Holiday

This Holiday Season is extra special for us this year! I am just elated for my son to be celebrating with us the joy of Christmas and the New Year! This time last year I was anxiously awaiting his arrival, planning, nesting, prepping and drinking way too much eggnog! Ha! Now he's here and almost 1 year old! I have to plan accordingly since Christmas and his birthday are about 1 week apart, so I want to spread the gift giving evenly (like he cares, he'll be more interested in the wrapping paper and boxes this year than gifts!) Nonetheless, I've been eyeing these adorable toys, clothes, handmade ornaments and baby skincare products! We can't forget about baby's skin, especially with the cold winter air! OH! Don't forget that Tea Collection is having their amazing CYBER MONDAY SALES go thru Wednesday! Hope you are all having an amazing week so far.

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

It's officially December! I am so excited for this wonderful, cheer-filled month! There just isn't anything like the Holidays and Christmas time! Speaking of which, I just ordered our Christmas cards. So much fun, I look forward to them every year! Now its even more special since our son has helped make our little family more like a family ;) its his first Holiday Season! Over Thanksgiving weekend we took him to see Santa Claus for the first time. He held himself together so well! I thought he was going to bawl, but he held back his tears and was so incredibly brave. It's already a busy week already getting started with Christmas festivities! I will do my best to keep regular with posts. Today I have a quote by the knockout classic beauty, Marilyn Monroe. She was a beauty, no doubt about it, but who knew she also had a mind of wisdom too! I love this quote by her. There is so much meaning and truth in it. Enjoy, and happy Monday!

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Cleaning makeup brushes may seem like a tedious task and is often an oversight in our skincare and beauty routines. How dirty can they be? Think again! I don't want to get too indulgent into the biology of bacteria. However, throughly cleaning your makeup brushes should be done often. Dirt, dead skin cells, oil and makeup can make up for some nasty residue that lives on/in your brushes. Everyone has a different opinion about how often to deep clean brushes. Some say twice a month, once a month etc. My recommendation is to thoroughly clean your brushes once a week, and if you can't muster that then do it every other week. I also recommend using a brush spray to use throughout the week and between cleanings. The cleaner your brushes are the better they'll perform and less chances you'll have of getting breakouts and blemishes caused by using dirty ol' brushes.

Step 1: Place your brushes into a bowl and pour a couple tablespoons of olive oil into the bowl.
The brushes will absorb a lot of the oil which is a good thing! Remember what I always say about oil; Oil attracts oil so it will pull all the oil, dirt, and makeup out of your brushes for a deep clean.

Step 2: Quickly rinse the oil soaked brushes over warm running water, use your finger tips to push out all the oil and residue.

Step 4: In a separate bowl, pour a capful of tea tree oil (antibacterial), approx. 2 tablespoons witch hazel (astringent) and 2 tablespoons baby soap or shampoo, pour hot/warm water into the bowl to get the bubbles to suds up. Then put your oil rinsed brushes into the warm soapy water mixture. Let them sit for a couple minutes.

Step 5: Take the brushes out and rinse one final time in warm running water. Add additional baby soap in the rinse if the brush still seems really dirty or oily.

Step 6: Use a clean towel or washcloth and lightly swirl your makeup brush to shake out excess water and dry. Then place the newly clean and damp brush onto a dry towel to dry flat. You're finished!

How was the weekend!? Ours was quite fun! My hubby and I had a date night! Finally! If you can believe it, the second one since our son was born (Almost 11 months ago now!) It felt so refreshing to get dressed up and head out alone with my sweetie. We also hung Christmas lights, or shall I say my husband did! Overall it was a great weekend and it all started on Friday afternoon; I took the plunge and finally got eyelash extensions! I have thought about getting extensions for quite a few years now. Overall its a little bit of an adjustment in my beauty routine and how to care for my new longer lashes. But I really do love them! I am so so glad I finally got them! You can see my before and after pictures here

And happy week of Thanksgiving! In honor of the cherished holiday I decided to make my own quote of thankfulness...

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation: My Review

Seriously, stop the presses! This liquid to powder foundation is AMAZING! I cannot even contain my excitement over this product. Over the weekend I was visiting my family in OC and I stopped into Space NK Apothecary at bloomies over at South Coast Plaza during my visit. I asked the associate to color match me in the two foundations I was interested in trying. One being Terry Cosmetics and the other, Hourglass. I've been wearing the Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation sample in my skin color "Shell" for the last couple of days. Each day my makeup LASTS. It lasts through my busy busy mom days, running around, errands and everything life throws at me. By the end of the day my makeup still looks flawless and amazing. For me, this NEVER happens! Also, I have to say I am not always a fan of liquid foundation for my skin, and I usually wear mineral makeup. However, this makeup has changed my mind. I love how easy it was to apply, I just used my Laura Mercier makeup sponge (I got it damp before applying) and I just lightly pressed the foundation over my face. I didn't need to use a lot of product either! Soon, the liquid transformed into a smooth velvety appearance, it didn't look chalky-powdery at all, which wouldn't be flattering on anybody. My skin felt great, it could still breathe and feel natural, I just felt comfortable in my own skin! No pun intended! ;) If you're at all curious about giving this product a try, you really should! You won't be disappointed! I am now a huge fan. Thank you Hourglass!

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

I just absolutely ADORE this quote by Amy Poehler. I found this on Pinterest the other week and I immediately became struck by the truth, power and meaning behind these words. Lately, I find myself needing to read this more and more. It gives me strength in finding my way at times. I hope it can resonate with you or someone out there. I hope these words have inspired you as they have for me. That is all I have for today. Have a great start to the week!

Walnut Pomegranate Salad

Happy Friday! The other day I was grocery shopping at my local Trader Joes, and I picked up some pomegrante seeds and a fat free balsamic vinagigrette. Not even thinking of combining the two to make a delicious salad! Well to fast forward, I've been making a pomegranate salad almost everyday this week for lunch! Its so scrumptious and delightfully satisfying! The sweetness of the pomegranate and the tangy balsamic vinaigrette play off so nicely with the greens and feta cheese. And to boot its super easy to make! Its a perfect "in-season" salad to enjoy for the days to come.

Walnut Pomegranate Salad
(Serves 1)

Ingredients:

4 Romaine Lettuce Leaves- washed and chopped
A Handful of Arugula
A Handful of Candied or Regular Walnuts
1/4 c Pomegranate Seeds
1 Chicken Breast
2 tsp Feta Cheese
Coconut Oil Cooking Spray
Salt and Pepper
Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

Directions:

Spray a small cooking pan with coconut oil cooking spray and grill the chicken breast evenly on both sides until done. You can add a few dashes of salt and pepper to season the chicken. While the chicken is cooking, thoroughly wash your salad leaves and toss together. Once the chicken is completely cooked, slice and place sliced pieces on top of the salad, throw on the feta, pomegranate seeds and walnuts. Lightly drizzle balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing and serve. Enjoy!

Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm: A Product Review // One Love Organics

Happy, happy Wednesday! It feels so good to be back to blogging again! I apologize for being MIA. I got sick with a horrid cold, then my son got sick, and then my husband! Phew! I was out of commission and just couldn't muster up the energy to write and get the beauty and creative juices flowing! Now all is well!

So here I am today with one of my favorite skin care brands, One Love Organics! Isn't that such a pretty name for a company?! Their products are just as beautiful from the inside and out! I'd been dying to try their Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm for quite some time now. I originally bought it to use as my facial oil cleanser, however this beauty gem has worked wonders for me (and my family) in so many versatile ways! Also the Skin Savior smells A-Mazing! All in all, I am in love with this balm and it is a must have for my beauty regimen now.

The Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm is exactly what it says it is: a Balm. So the texture and feel of the Skin Savior is thick yet so smooth. It took me a little while to get used to using it (just being honest) but I quickly got the hang of it and figured out how to use it to its fullest potential. I have to mention that a little goes a long way! I hope you try it and use my tried and proven tips below to add into your daily beauty regime.

1. Use it as a Facial Cleansing Oil: Dab a small amount on your finger tips and use a tiny bit of fresh water in conjunction (I found that a little water helped spread the product over my skin with out using too much product), and work the product into your skin. Keep cleansing your skin for about two minutes, spending time on any problem areas. The Skin Savior is like magic to dissolve makeup, dirt and other impurites. I even use it over my delicate eye area! (Just be gentle!) When you're done, wash with warm water and follow with a gel cleanser to thoroughly clean your skin and remove a bit of the left over residue of the balm. For more helpful tips on oil cleansing review this previous post!

2. Use it as a Moisturizer: Whether you have dry or oily skin, you can definitely use this as a moisturizer! In fact I highly reccomend it! This balm is rich in pressed oils and soothing and moisturizing agents. Like I mentioned in this post, I know putting oil on your skin sounds counter-intuitive, however anybody can benefit from adding oils to their face! It will tame oil production in oily skin types and it will aid in moisturization for dry and sensitive skin types. I personally apply my daily moisturizer over my face, neck and decollate, then I dab my fingers with a tiny smidget of Skin Savior and apply a light coat over my face and eye area. I wait for a couple minutes for the product to absorb a bit onto my skin and then I proceed with applying my foundation. Trust me ladies, when I say your makeup will glide on soooo smoothly and will last much longer than using plain ol' moisturizer or another primer. One Love Organics even has a video tutorial on how to use with makeup!

3. Use it as a Lip Balm: You cannot go wrong with giving your pout some OLO love! Your lips will feel velvety smooth and hydrated! Its a great treatment before applying lip liner. At night time I have also been using the Skin Savior on the skin around my lips to prevent fine lines!

3. Use it as a Eye Treatment: I started experimenting using Skin Savior over my delicate eye area as an "eye cream" for night. I looooooove it! My eye area looks so much more refreshed and I love having one product that can do it all! I also have been using the balm on my eyelashes. Take a tiny dab with one finger and with an upward sweeping motion apply the balm in light, feathery strokes, just be sure not to get any into your eye! I've been doing this during the day when I don't have time for mascara and I always apply at night before bed. The essential fatty oils and other ingredients will help lashes get stronger, healthier and grow out better and even longer!

4. Use it to heal cuts and scrapes: Not to get too gory or anything, but I accidentally cut my finger with a knife one day. I used the Skin Savior to heal and protect my wound!

5. Use it to heal chapped/raw/red skin: My son had a terrible cold, and his nose just wouldn't stop running. The skin between his nose and lips started to look irritated from all the wiping etc. So I applied a little bit of the Skin Savior to help protect his skin from further irritation!

The different uses that I have tried and listed above are some of the many ways this amazing product can be used. I'm sure the Skin Savior would be an excellent deep conditioning hair treatment and work wonders on rough cuticles or feet. The possibilities are endless!

Have you tried this or any other One Love Organics products!? I'd love to hear how you use them in your beauty regimen!

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

Happy first Monday of November! How's everyone adjusting to the time change? I never do that great when time changes into "fall backward"; I so dearly miss the daylight and the feeling that the days are longer. But with the dark comes the light. I am getting so excited for the upcoming holidays and decorating the house with christmas lights and candles to enjoy the longer nights. I've already begun my Christmas shopping and have a few ideas of Christmas stockings I intend on purchasing as well! So in the spirit of the approaching holiday season and the month of thanksgiving, I share with you all today a thoughtful and philosophical quote from the Roman Empire days that hold so much meaning even in present times. Have a great day!

Happy Halloween!

If you get in the spirit of Halloween, I wish you a very happy and fun one indeed! We already did our mini celebrations over the weekend, so today we will stay home and be cozy and pass out candy to the neighborhood kids! Its always fun to see how cute and excited little ones get over candy and costumes! I look forward to the days where J gets to partake on that fun! I corralled a few of my favorite NO carve pumpkin decorations. As you can see, I definitely love pumpkins to be glamourous and beautiful!

six things

Its been a busy week around here for me and I've been trying to wrap up things I want to accomplish before the holidays begin and the New Year as well! I mean, they're right around the corner! Today I leave you with six things that I am loving right now.

Monday Musings // Quote of the Week

How was everybody's weekend? We had a busy one filled with lots of stuff to get accomplished ie; house chores, errands etc. But we did manage to squeeze in a bit of fun at a Halloween party we went to! Today I plan on making some (more) homemade applesauce for my growing (almost 10 month old) son! He LOVES applesauce! I also have some painting that I would like to accomplish today as well. Have a great monday!

Sleeping Beauty

Happy Happy Friday everyone! This morning we are off to the park for a little play date, then later to a Halloween party! I am just so glad its Friday and the weekend is here! Time to catch up on some R&R and some Zzzs! Speaking of, I want to share with you my 5 top tips and secrets for overnight beauty.
Sleeping Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's

1. Wash, then Wash again: Didn't your mother ever tell you to wash your face before bed? I cannot tell you enough how this is the #1 secret to beautiful, radiant looking skin! Before bed, wash your face then wash it again! I recommend doing this every night as part of your nightly beauty routine; while you're in the shower, wash your face (preferably with an oil cleanser like this one) then take a second cleanser, it could be a mild cleanser like this one, and wash again. This 2 step process will eliminate makeup, dirt, oils, and other yuck stuff that your skin has been exposed to throughout your day.

2. Treat: Your skin needs some love, treat it to a moisturizing or vitamin C serum. A lot of people don't put anything on their skin before bed and wonder why their skin looks dull. What happens at night, about 3-4 hours into your sleep, the pores of your skin relax and open up much wider than they do any other time.  I know, sounds scary! Who wants big pores??? Not me! But this is a natural process that your body and skin does in order to breathe, relax and detox all at the same time. When you put vital nutrients onto your face before bed, well guess what happens?! All that loveliness you just applied to your skin will be soaked right into the pores and deep into your skin! (Thats why you just don't sleep in makeup ladies!) You will get the most out of your serums and other skin treatment products at night. Oh, and don't worry, your pores will go back to normal before you wake up and notice! ;)

3. Bat those Eyelashes: Before bed, apply a tiny amount of coconut oil to your lashes. Coconut oil has properties in it that naturally pull out impurities and gets deep into the follicle to stimulate hair regrowth. I've been using this little home remedy myself and actually have noticed a difference! My lashes look healthier and thicker since I started this technique. You can also use coconut oil around the delicate eye area as a nice eye treatment.

4. Mask: Give yourself an at home facial with a mask at night before bed. By applying your treatment mask at night this allows your skin to relax and breathe without any makeup going on afterwards to hinder the effects of your mask. Its such an effective technique and really helps you get the most out of your product!

5. Hands & Feet: Don't forget about your hardworking hands and feet. Show them some love with a nice body oil or lotion to intensely moisturize cracked skin, dry cuticles and tired muscles. I personally keep my lotion sitting on my nightstand. The last thing I do before I turn out the lights is a light massage over my feet and hands. Every now and then, its also nice to give them a gentle exfoliation. For hands I am obsessed with Julep's Glycolic Hand Scrub, and for feet I just love the Julep Foot File with the Best Pedi Prep Ever!

So tell me, what beauty tips and tricks do you do before you drift off to sleep?! I'd love to hear them!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Graphic Tees

At heart I am a down to earth dresser; comfort and style go hand in hand for me. And nothing can beat the practicality and comfort of the good ol' fashioned T-shirt! They can be dressed up or down and are incredibly versatile! They are especially perfect when they can be glammed up in such a simple, effortless way. Just add some skinny jeans, jewelry, a cute bag and a beautiful, smiling face! Then I am one happy lady and totally in my style element! I am loving these graphic tees with simple lovely words that convey such positive, beautiful messages. What about you? Are you a fan like me of these simple graphic tees? Here are a few of my favorites, enjoy!
