1st Project in Sewing Class

As you know, I started my sewing class yesterday, and its a individualized sewing class that lasts 3 hours and is held every monday. As a new student to this class I was assigned a project, a grocery bag. The original pattern is cute, but the handle was too short, and she wanted us to use the provided denim fabric... which I hate to say a denim bag is just so not me, so here is a picture that I am inspired by to recreate this grocery bag using Amy Butler's Love Collection fabric in the Sandalwood/Ivory pattern (as shown below). I'll post pics of the completed project soon!
isn't this bag adorable?!!

Quote of the Week

"You can never judge a paint hue by the liquid color in the paint pot. You must apply it to a wall, wait for the paint to dry, then decide." -Dorothy Draper

Today...

I started an individualized sewing class in Santa Barbara! I am super excited about this class! I already know how to sew and have been sewing since I was 5... I'm serious, sewing and fabric just thrill me beyond belief. I am taking this class to learn some new methods of sewing, meet other creative individuals & really hone in and perfect my art. I will keep blog updates as this class progresses, and happy Monday everyone!

I just love a great kitchen...

love that island! oh and the custom lighting above!
Need I say more? Gorgeous!

isn't the all white kitchen cabinetry &
carrera marble a great contrast against the
warm hued hardwood floors?

you know how I LOVE the color blue! The elegant
blue-floral draperies, with the matching banquette is
tres chic!

modern, crisp, clean... perfect.

add a little juxtaposing materials: clean and white, yet rustic
& refined natural wood.

Designer Watch!

I absolutely LOVE this home's interior! It is the perfect blend of color, with unique juxtapositions of vintage, modern, traditional and just very livable. I found this home on Lonny, and it was designed by Hillary Thomas Designs. Check them out here and here.

Today...

I am dreaming of the warm days of summer! Ha, I know its January 5th! But I just can't help it, sitting here at my desk, listening to the surf, crashing onto the beach. Here are a few pics that reminded me of days of warmth, lemonade, and life at a bit of a slower pace.

Pantone Color of 2011

Have you heard of Pantone's color for 2011? Its "Honeysuckle"... I just love this color and for some reason I've been gravitating towards its fresh and very appealing vibe. Check out the press release here. This color is supposed to be encouraging, uplifting and brings confindence and courage to the spirit. Sounds like we could all use a little "honeysuckle" in our lives!

What do you own in this color?

Let's see, I own a couple books, juicy couture sweater, jewelry, and yes, an orchid in my dining room! Here are a few images to inspire you for this years new "it" color.

Quote of the Week

"I don't think of decorating as a science or discipline. People always say start with the rug, but it is often the last thing I end up selecting. I begin with whatever makes my heart sing."
