Happy New Year!

I wish you all a happy new year, full of abundance in all areas of your life! Let's start 2011 off the right way! Have you made any resolutions? I know I have, and I'll jot down a just a few of them here:

1.) Open my new Etsy account- I have a line-up of custom home goods designed just by me!
2.) Take a sewing class (I already know how to sew, but there are some techniques I am eager to learn!)
3.) Design and Decorate my home office (we just moved & its still in progress)
4.) Take a vacation!
5.) Save $ and invest into assets
6.) Read 10 books front to back (at least 10!)

Ok! So there are a few of my resolutions for 2011! By the way did you know 2011 is the year of the Rabbit/Cat?! According to Chinese astrology the year of the Rabbit is about taking life to a slow pace, all about beauty, focusing on artistic expression and family; going back to your roots. I was born the year of the rabbit, so this year shall be a lucky one! I'm looking forward to that! Cheers everyone!

Soul Blossoms by Amy Butler (Home Decor Fabric)

Can you believe it is almost 2011?! The clock is ticking, and I don't know about you, but I welcome the new year wholeheartedly! Speaking of "new" I ran across an email from Amy Butler's new home decor fabric collection called "Soul Blossoms". This collection is inspired by her travels to India, and all its lovely, luscious rich colors; happy colors that you just can't help but be inspired yourself! Check them out here. Have a beautiful day!

Home for the Holidays

Holiday 2010 is finally here, and I wanted to wish everyone a warm and happy one. My husband and I are staying home for the holidays this year, visiting family and friends. I also snapped some photos of my own holiday decor in my little beach apartment, and included a link to the pecan pie that I baked just for todays festivities. Happy Holidays everyone!

if you look closely you'll see my newest ornament from anthropologie (the Matryoshka Doll)that my hubby surprised me with as an early Christmas gift! He's a sweetie!

another close-up of some more of my favorite
ornaments! I just love that little owl, we bought it
last year at Pier 1.

my dining nook: I dressed it up simply with a glass vase
filled with gold and silver ornaments, and white candles!

A little Office Design Inspiration

I am dying to recreate my home office into a colorful and inspirational retreat! Here are some pictures of lovely offices that I am so inspired by. Soon I'll be posting pictures of my little office's design progress. Cheers!
I love the bold area rug, against the simplicity of the white desk, & of course storage!
I had to put this picture in because this cavalier is almost the splitting image of my dog Rigby!
can't get enough storage! and I adore the revamped chippendale chair!

clustering artwork together is a fav! art looks more cohesive when framed the same.

an inviting chair is a great furniture piece in an office.

there's that chair again! inspiration boards are a must!

Finding the perfect (afforable) Ottoman

I am always in search of a chic and affordable ottoman; even as an interior designer, trying to tie a space together can be challenging, especially on a tight budget. Here are a few of my favorites as I was scoping the internet looking for affordable ottomans for an upcoming design project. Rose Hydrating Oil

As some of you may know, I work part-time with skin care. Its almost winter and ladies lets face it, we all need to take care of our skin! One of my all time favorite ingredients for keeping skin, soft & supple and hydrated is, Rose. (its also great for any skin type)
Rose is a natural aphrodisiac, but it also has essential vitamins, reduces redness or skin irritation, soothes nerves and stress. Some ways you can use rose is through topical application of toners, making tea or soaking your feet in a bowl of luscious rose petals.

Here is a recipe to make your own homemade "Hydrating Rose-Infused Body Oil"

  • 1 cup fresh, organic rose petals
  • 1 cup sweet almond oil (sesame or olive oils will also work)
  • Wide-mouthed glass jar with lid
  1. Place rose petals in the jar and gently crush them to release their natural oils.
  2. Pour the oil over the petals.
  3. Put the lid on the jar and let it sit in a dark corner for a week.
  4. Strain the oil and apply to skin after bathing.

Stash Premium Tea

I love tea! I drink tea all day, everyday! Most teas are rich in antioxidants, and of course lovely to taste! On Sunday my hubby and I strolled to Downtown Santa Barbara, perused the stores and had a nice lunch at a sidewalk cafe called, The Anderson, a Danish bakery and cafe. Lunch was delicious and so was the amazing danish breadbasket! YUM! But what I cannot stop drooling over is their Orange Tea Latte! Delish! So I snagged the tea tag off my cup, went home and googled "Stash Tea". Check out their website, and try the "Orange Spice Black Tea" you will not be disappointed! Cheers!
